Steller Systems Competing in IMarEST/RINA Western Joint Branch Design Challenge 2017

Monday, December 4th, 2017

Two of Steller Systems’ naval architects are competing in the IMarEST / RINA Design Challenge 2017 this evening.

The challenge, which is run by the Western Joint Branch (a joint branch of RINA and IMarEST), is to design a life boat capable of rescuing up to 1,000 people from the sea at once.  The team has designed an innovative, rapidly-expandable high-capacity lifeboat which is capable of accommodating 1,000 people but which can be deployed and retrieved using existing lifeboat davits.

Steller Systems’ team comprises two of our Graduates:  George Payne, a Graduate Naval Architect, and James Wright, an Engineering Graduate in the MOD who is part-way through a six-month placement at Steller Systems as part of the MOD’s Defence Engineering and Science Group (DESG) Graduate Scheme.

We wish the team the best of luck!
